Azure DevOps integration
With the Azure DevOps integration, you can sync TheyDo solutions with work items in Azure DevOps.
How to install and authorize Azure DevOps in TheyDo
To install the Azure DevOps integration you need to be on the Management plan in TheyDo. You must also have the build administrator role in Azure DevOps and be a member of the Project Collection Service Accounts or Project Collection Administrators groups in Azure DevOps.
Go to Settings in TheyDo (bottom left corner of your dashboard) and click on Integrations
Click ‘Enable’ in the Azure DevOps product integration line
Enter your organization’s URL (find it by navigating to your Azure DevOps environment and copying the part after https://dev.azure.com/)
Then click ‘Create integration’. Each Azure DevOps environment can only be connected once (an error may mean that another organization in TheyDo is already linked to the Azure DevOps environment you’re attempting to connect to).
Create a personal access token
Open Azure DevOps as an admin
Navigate to User Settings > Personal access tokens
Create a new token by clicking on + New Token
Give your token a recognizable name for reference in the future.
Choose the same organization you entered earlier for the server URL.
Set the expiration date to the latest possible date to avoid frequent refreshes. This date determines when the integration stops working.
Grant ‘Read & Write’ permissions for the Notifications and Work Items scopes to authorize access to the token. You may need to click on ‘Show all scopes’ to find these settings.
Click on Create
Copy your unique token (you won’t be able to see the token again in the future)
Paste the token in the Authorize integration field, and then click on ‘Authorize integration’
Setting up two-way synchronization
Decide whether or not you want two-way sync, which automatically updates Solutions in TheyDo and Work items in Azure DevOps (keeping the titles and descriptions in sync).
Choose a default project to serve as the main Azure DevOps project to which Solutions are pushed or linked (you can choose the specific project every time, but this default project saves you a click).
Toggle on 2-way synchronization and click on ‘Update’.
If you don’t want the Title and Description to update after the initial push (or during linking), then keep this turned off.
Map statuses between Azure DevOps and TheyDo
Link the statuses of an Azure DevOps project to the Solution statuses in a TheyDo workspace so that when a connected work item is updated in Azure DevOps, the change will also show up in TheyDo.
Choose the Azure DevOps project that you want to connect with (multiple projects can be linked to one workspace)
Choose the TheyDo workspace that connects to that Azure DevOps project.
On the left you see the statuses of the Azure DevOps project. On the right, you can link a TheyDo status to those Azure DevOps statuses. When a work item changes status in Azure DevOps to the status on the left, TheyDo will update the solution status to the linked status.
