Using the Opportunity Matrix

The Opportunity Matrix gives you a visual overview of how your Opportunities score in relation to each other. Access the Opportunity Matrix by looking at the Opportunities within a Journey and clicking on the Matrix button. Alternatively, access the matrix from within the Opportunities library to prioritize against everything in your customer experience.

Refine your view by filtering based on your team's needs, such as a specific journey, team, or product domain. Then, click on the three dots in the top right to switch the axis to what you’d like to compare:

  • Customer vs. Business value: This view helps you prioritize by assessing Opportunities' combined value, from both the customer and business side.

  • Value vs. Effort: This view plots Opportunities based on their total value against the effort required for implementation.

    • Quick wins (Bottom right): Opportunities offering significant value and can be quickly realized.

    • Big bets (Top right): Opportunities with high potential value but are challenging to implement.

    • Maybes (Bottom left): Opportunities with low value but are easy to implement.

    • Time sinks (Bottom right): Opportunities requiring substantial effort but yielding minimal value—not worth pursuing.

Use the Opportunity description, or the comments, to highlight how you scored a particular Opportunity. The more insights that are linked to an Opportunity, the larger the Opportunity circle will appear on the graph, and the more impactful it is.

If your admin has set up custom prioritization from the 'Settings' > 'Taxonomy' > 'Prioritization scores' section, you can adjust your Opportunity Matrix to use custom X and Y axes. This will show your Opportunities on the Matrix according to your unique prioritization method.
