Use statuses to track progress

In TheyDo, progress is tracked intuitively as you mov the status of opportunities, solutions and goals from “Not started” to “In progress”, “Completed” or “Canceled”.

Automatic status and progress updating

With nested building blocks, the progress of the parent will automatically adjust as you change the progress of its nested items. For example, if you have an overarching, parent opportunity with 4 solutions nested inside of it, the progress of the opportunity will move forward 25% when you set one solution to “Completed”. Likewise, if you move one of the nested solutions to “In progress”, the opportunity will also move forward, but only 17%, showing the incremental progress made before completion.

Your progress will automatically roll up in this way; whenever you change the status of a nested item, the status of its parent will update as well, changing to whichever status your admin defaulted for the “In progress”, “Completed” and “Canceled” categories.

Overriding automatic status and progress calculation

If at any point you’d like to override the automatic status updating for any parent building block, you can simply open its card and manually change the status. You’ll see a reset button to next to your manually changed status, in case you’d like to reset it back to TheyDo’s default status and calculation.

Adjusting progress values

Your organization admin can change the value assigned to each “In progress” status. For example, it may make sense for a status named “Slightly off” to only track 25% towards completion, whereas a status named “On track” accounts for 50% towards completion. Admins can adjust these values from their Settings > Taxonomy > Statuses section.
